Of Course, The FLOPscars Ignored The Biggest Anime Movie Ever

Tell me you didn’t see this coming?

Your Name is a wonderful motion picture, and one of the best anime films of last year. It’s also the highest grossing anime ever, which doesn’t validate it as a great film but, at least, will be solace to the folks who made it.

According to Variety (via ANN), Your Name got a one-week theatrical run in Los Angeles last December to qualify for this year’s Oscars.

This week, however, the Academy Awards revealed which films it will be nominating for best animated feature. They are: Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, My Life as a Zucchini, The Red Turtle, and Zootopia… One word: Meh!

Okay, these are good movies, sure, but Your Name is a glaring omission. But that’s what the FLOPscars are for.

Alfred Hitchcock never won an Oscar for best director. Need I say more?

The truth is, they hate everything that is not Disney.

It’s rare they reward foreign Masterpieces like they did with Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away in 2002. Although, not rewarding Spirited Away would have been globally embarrassing because Studio Ghibli’s animations are simply phenomenal.

In short, they should just delete the “Best Foreign Language” and “Best Animation” categories ’cause they don’t know shit about it.
