Wafa Media Foundation, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) group, have released a poster threatening to bring terror to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia that features an image of Barcelona and Argentina star LIONEL MESSI crying blood.

The 2018 World Cup will be played across 11 cities in Russia from June 14 to July 15, when the final will be played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Now, I guess those terrorist jerks haven’t realised that football (soccer) is the sport king and this is one way to unite the whole world against them.

Also, Russians do not prat around with these people like the West.

Do a Russian down, and you will come second! So, well done bastards.

First of all, Happy belated Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians.

And yes! We Canadians celebrate a month in advance than Americans because our societies are two different worlds. The Canadian mind is a lot more progressive that even our turkey day is ahead from them. #GoCanada

Back to my post…

Tonight couldn’t have started any worse for Argentina. On the outside looking in at the beginning of the final day of World Cup qualification, they needed a win in Ecuador to at least keep their hopes alive. But within the first minute, the home side delivered a stunning blow, taking a very quick, potentially devastating 1-0 lead.

That goal left Argentina, who had only scored 16 goals in 17 games of qualifying, with the task of getting at least two on the road to avoid national despair and humiliation.

Luckily for them, however, when you have the GOAT, anything is within reach. All it took was 12 minutes for Lionel MESSI to erase the initial damage. The inevitable next goal was 100 percent Messi magic, and it came just eight minutes later, when he stole the ball in a dangerous area, took just one touch to set himself, then fired off an unstoppable shot… and two more later on.

The final score was 3-1 and Messi saved Argentina’s ass!

Argentina have mostly been playing like garbage, but luckily, Leo Messi is not and never will be garbage. Thanks to him, Argentina still finish third in South American qualifying, and Messi is still going to the World Cup.

Everything is as it should be! #VAMOSARGENTINA

It’s a funny thing, talking about what an athlete deserves.

Sports are the ultimate results-oriented business, where no matter how much you love your mother or how kind and considerate you are to lovers and waiters or even how well you played in any given game, if the final whistle blows and you look up at the scoreboard and the other team has more points than yours, then they get the trophy and you go home with nothing, and that’s that.

But it’s hard to feel like any athlete deserves anything more than Lionel Messi deserves to win the World Cup.

Messi is the iconic player of his generation and quite possibly of all time, his brand of sporting superiority so vivid and searing and electric in colour that it can’t even be classified along the traditional light spectrum.

He does the hardest, coolest things in his sport way more often than anyone else, and does so with an ease and grace and artistry that makes watching his every match a beatific experience.

On top of all that, he has become this legendary player after leaving his motherland as a boy, giving his entire heart and soul to his country in search of validation and acceptance from his skeptical countryman, only to repeatedly come up just short in agonising fashion, receiving only ridicule and distrust from many fellow Argentines in response.

Messi is the BEST soccer player in the world, has won and earned just about every single trophy and plaudit a player could imagine, regularly plays exceptionally well for club and country, wants nothing more than to win something for his country, and lacks only one that thing, a WORLD CUP TROPHY, to permanently seal his place as the greatest player to ever lace up boots.
This is what it means to say Messi deserves to win a World Cup, in every sense of the word. And yet, on the doorstep of what will probably be the last World Cup of his prime there’s a terrifyingly large chance Argentina won’t even make it there.

Argentina vs Peru ended up with no scores. And so far, Argentina is out of Russia 2018.

As great as Messi is, a team that relies on Messi to do so much is bound to fail!

Messi has no team and a whole Nation (passionate and cruel) relies on him.

The universe is unfair, and sports are no exception.
