Google Honour Dr. Maya Angelou

On what would have been her 90th birthday, today (April 4th 2018) Google Doodle is celebrating the life of iconic poet, author and important civil rights activist Dr. Maya Angelou.

Inspiring the likes of 2Pac, Dave Chappelle, Serena Williams, Common, and even President Barack Obama, Maya Angelou is more than just her literature, she was, and still is, a beacon of hope.

Loved by many, she is regarded as one of the most important and most influential writers in American History.

This day is also a poignant day for all those involved in the civil rights movement, as it is the day that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated.

Happy 90th birthday, Maya Angelou, you are forever an inspiration!

MOVIES MARATHON PART VIII

If you’re regular on my blog you probably understand that when I have time to watch movies is because I’m not having sex. Yup! I haven’t had any since several days now ’cause I’m full of decency, but I was actually mostly tired.

However today is another day, so, for now, let’s talk about the films I recently watched.

ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD

This is a story based on real event of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III (back in the 70’s) and the desperate attempt by his mother to convince his billionaire grandfather (Paul Getty, once the world’s richest man) to pay the ransom.

I’m not giving anything away but this is definitely one of the best movies of 2017.

Canadian LEGEND Christopher Plummer, at 88, gives an outstanding performance. Wahlberg is for once credible as the negotiator, while Williams is fantastic, as usual.

All The Money in the World is both timely and timeless, depicting the greediness of our world, where, unfortunately, the money is idolised and considered of more importance than the human life itself.

Without a doubt one of Ridley Scott’s best in years!

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Can you believe I didn’t see this movie when it came out?

Me neither. But was probably fate!

This film is decent on the surface until you notice that it really didn’t continue any of the story from the excellent The Force Awakens. What they did to Luke Skywalker is a disgrace… Disney still doesn’t know how to make an adult movie.

On the other hand, great visuals, battle scenes and new creatures.

Overall, Rey, Kylo Ren, Po and the true hero BB-8 are my hope for the franchise.

Entertaining, but not a great continuation.

A GHOST STORY

Unlike what the title suggests, this is not a thriller but a film about being hunted by loss.

At first, the idea of someone walking around in a white sheet with black eyeholes seems silly. Then it turns creepy and eventually becomes incontrovertibly sad.

This film is extremely slow and looks like a hipster project on an Instagram filter.

Nothing exciting really happens, it feels gloomy and lonely, it’s an independent bohemian film at its best… BUT, that’s the charm of this genre of movie.

They’re contemplative, profound and moving if you’re the sensitive/artistic type.

Otherwise you’ll be bored to tears and maybe Transformers: The Last Knight is the movie you need.

But truly, only at the end you somehow appreciate this slow melancholic ride.

A great soundtrack and ending of the sad hypothetical truth of why ghost remain here.

Parkland’s Emma Gonzalez Stuns Nation With Six Minutes Of “Silence Heard Around The World”

Meanwhile in Canada, I live the mundane peaceful life every human being should have the right to live, our “second world” neighbours new generation are fighting against the immorality and REAL perversion of gun violence.

A mortal disease of an old conceited generation.

The speech delivered this afternoon by Emma Gonzalez will be the most remembered moment of this historic day.

She was amazing, they all were, but fear for her life…

She is everything the right wing hates: A smart, fearless woman of colour!!!

I hope I live long enough to see her become a national leader in whatever she chooses to do as an adult, and help her country regain the dignity once made America great.
